Jessica McLellan will talk you through the changes announced in the Budget 2024, focusing on the consequences of the radical changes of the current non-dom regime and how this will affect resident non-doms and their trust structures, and those intending to move to the UK, or settle new Trusts. We will identify what we know so far, what could change, what areas of non-dom focus we are currently seeing from HMRC and any action clients need to take now to plan in time when the new regime comes into effect in April 2025.
Jessica specialises in Tax Risk and Dispute Resolution, particularly for High Net Worth Individuals, Trusts and OMBs. She has worked as a Disputes Resolution specialist in the Big 4 and within HMRC Central Policy. She is also a Chartered Accountant and qualified Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) mediator.
Jessica has broad experience across the tax landscape, from proactive tax risk management to complex disclosures, settlement of legacy avoidance schemes and dealing with non-domiciled clients and their offshore structures. Her strong understanding of how HMRC works, at both a practical and a policy level, offers clients an in-depth insight into how to navigate through HMRC’s decision-making process and governance to progress matters pragmatically.
