In this session, guests will hear how best to understand the likely short- and medium-term impact on global markets from a Trump presidency. As well as understanding how AI works and, what AI can offer in terms of productivity in our industry, and others.
In this 1-hour presentation we will be joined by James Penn, Sean Mills and Matthew Seaward who are Investment Managers with Capital International.

James Penn
James started as assistant to the Chief Investment Officer at Coutts in the mid-1990s. After three years, he joined Singer & Friedlander for four years as a Junior Portfolio Manager and analyst, covering the Alcoholic Beverage, Leisure, and Media sectors. He then moved on to Capital International Group in 2003, where he spent six years as a Portfolio Manager and subsequently Senior Portfolio Manager (years which included weathering the financial crisis of 2008) and became the first person on the Island to acquire the prestigious CFA Charter. In 2010, James moved to Thomas Miller Investments as Senior Portfolio Manager and later Deputy Head of the Equity team. He rejoined Capital International in 2018 as Head of Equity. He recently acquired the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing.
Sean Mills
Sean is a Portfolio Manager and Investment Analyst. He is skilled in equity research, portfolio management, asset allocation, trading, performance analysis, and macroeconomic commentary. Sean has primary coverage of Healthcare, Communication Services, and Utilities sectors. His investment Philosophy focuses on finding opportunities in emerging global megatrends that offer significant and sustainable economic & societal impact. Sean has a B.A. (Hons) in English Literature and is a member of the CFA UK Society holding the level 4 Investment Management Certificate and is a full CFA Charter holder. Sean holds the CFA Certificate in ESG investing.
Matthew Seaward
Matthew Seaward is a seasoned Portfolio Manager at Capital International, having joined the Group in 2017. Matthew joined as a graduate, evolving through roles as an investment analyst before attaining his current position. A key player in the Asset Allocation and Equity selection team, Matthew brings a nuanced understanding of market dynamics to his role. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Accounting & Finance an MSc in Finance. A committed member of the CFA Society of the UK, Matthew also possesses the Investment Management Certificate. His investment philosophy centres on creating portfolios that are not only profitable and efficient but also less susceptible to market dislocations.
