The session will provide an update on IOM and UK tax matters following the IOM and UK budgets, and will also provide an update on FATCA/CRS.
Phillip Dearden is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Taxation. For 25 years he has specialised in the offshore areas of UK taxation embracing residence, domicile and non-resident trusts. He is a former Chairman of both the IOM Society of Chartered Accountants and the Association of Corporate Service Providers. Phillip focuses on the provision of offshore tax planning advice both to his own portfolio of trust and individual clients, and to local trust and company administration businesses and existing and potential settlors and beneficiaries. Phillip also assists in negotiating with tax authorities in respect of Offshore Arrangements that require rectification. Phillip is currently occupied with the implementation of FATCA.
Claire Mulhern is a member of the Institute of Taxation and recently moved to the private sector after almost ten years working in the Income Tax Division of Isle of Man Government. Claire was responsible for co-ordinating the drafting and publication of the FATCA/IGA Guidance notes that were produced jointly between the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey and have been adopted by a number of other jurisdictions. Claire is also familiar with many areas of international taxation and other aspects of information exchange.
This Tuesday 24th March session will be at the Upper Hall, Loch Promenade Church, Douglas, with coffee and registration from 12 noon for a prompt start at 12.30 pm. It is anticipated that this event will finish at around 1.30 pm, subject to the number of questions and contributions from the audience.
